Sample Lesson Plan Assignment, HED 680: Student Populations in Higher Education
by Cait Fitzpatrick
Please enjoy a sample lesson plan for 90 minutes worth of class time at the graduate level. This lesson plan focuses on differing generational values about college, and the future of college enrollment as it pertains to underrepresented student groups in higher education. The content will generate learning outcomes such as ability to draw connections between student identity and the college experience, and ability to effectively communicate ideas and information to a class through discussion and presentation.

Lesson Plan, HED 680: Student Populations in Higher Education
Women's Studies: Gender, Power, and Feminism
By Cait Fitzpatrick
This assignment was inspired by a degree plan for CCHE 680: Curriculum Construction at Community Colleges. Students were instructed to build a syllabus and lesson plan for the same course that was included in the degree program. In this case, I crafted "WST:" Gender, Power, and Feminism" as my desired course. I chose this course as I was thinking about a much broader program that focuses on Women and Journalism, as opposed to "women and gender studies' ' or "women, gender, and sexuality," which are all fairly common. Students will begin the course with this lesson that lays out how we think about power dynamics and the major power theories that exist in our modern world. This will act as a foundational knowledge for power theory and dynamics that we will build on throughout the course as we dive deeper into how gender, sexism and the feminist movement are related.

Feminist Journalism Degree Proposal
By Cait Fitzpatrick
Feminist Journalism, an Associate of Arts, is an original degree proposal inspired by feminism, gender studies, and journalism. The degree blends many disciplines such as reporting, writing, storytelling, activism, and news production. Primarily rooted in the Liberal Arts, this program will prepare students for a number of careers such as journalism, writing, editing, content creation, social media coordination, social/political activism and more.
