A Summary Report on "Demands for Partnership and Collaboration in Higher Education: A Model"
by Marilyn J. Amey, Pamela L. Eddy, and C. Casey Ozaki

Summary Report by Cait Fitzpatrick

In this academic article, Amey, Eddy, and Ozaki model and theorize educational partnerships. This summary report, inspired by an assignment in CCHE 580:  The Community College, draws our attention to community college partnerships, organizational collaboration, and overall potential for long-standing partnerships within the educational community. These relationships are crucial as we see a rise in dual enrollment, college preparation, and tuition prices at the university level. For this reason, I have included the summary report in my portfolio. Now more than ever, I believe we must build sustainable, beneficial relationships with community colleges in order to support students and allow them to reach their learning outcomes. Topics covered include institutional benefits, characteristics of successful partnerships and partnership themes, enhancing student learning, and the act of defining collaboration, among others.

High Achiever Transition to College (HATC)
By Cait Fitzpatrick

This program proposal was inspired from efforts and strategies presented in CCHE 620: Access and Opportunity in Higher Education, with a clear objective to identify an area of inequity in higher education and make a case as to why and how a proposed program can advance equity in the chose area. High Achiever Transition to College (HATC) is a program that prepares high-achieving minority and underrepresented students to apply to and attend selective and prestigious institutions by offering social, cultural and academic support. The program proposal explores undermatching, access to test preparation and Advanced Placement (AP) exams, as well as advanced access to knowledge about the college-going process. This proposal is something I'm extremely proud of, and I hope to actually bring it to life one day.

Creating a Brand in Higher Education
By Cait Fitzpatrick

Social media, marketing, and market research are of great interest to me, especially how they interact with something as monumental as education. This evidence-based guide to creating a brand in higher education was inspired by CCHE 650: Social Entrepreneurship in Higher Education, as well as the task to describe how university and community college leaders can use social media. In broader terms, the guide explores the benefits and drawbacks of using social media as a leader, the rationale behind the exponential growth in social media usage among higher education professionals and institutions, and the common goal to build up a brand that inspires, supports, and reflects the university in a positive light. As social media quickly becomes a medium to boost revenue and engagement for institutions, higher education professionals and directors alike should be able to articulate the patterns and values of the audience they are trying to attract: generation Z students.

A New Era in Higher Education: Academic Enterprise
By Cait Fitzpatrick

Academic Enterprise sets out to bridge the worlds of academia and business. Through partnerships, both financial and academic, students of the future will likely see many of these partnerships come to fruition. In this academic paper, inspired by CCHE 680: Higher Education in the U.S., the reader can expect a reflection on employability, corporate scholarships for higher education, workforce planning, and interdisciplinary training that allows students to graduate with a wide range of skills. This thoughtful response to the topic of Academic Enterprise will allow readers to draw conclusions about modern challenges that higher education professionals and students face today. I believe that this academic paper demonstrates my writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills, as I predict what aspects of the industry must shift in order to adapt for the future.

Graduate Statement Paper
by Cait Fitzpatrick

Students were asked to develop an “official report” on the three major issues facing your university due to COVID-19 and associated mutations. Students were asked to introduce the “official report” with relevant issues that can be supported with evidence and examples.  Items addressed:

  • The rationale for the assertion/idea;

  • The challenges that may be incurred and how they can resolved;

  • The players involved or excluded e.g., faculty, leadership, students, enrollment;

  • What do you project the outcomes will indicate;

  • How does this idea align or differ with national trends; and

  • Finally, what makes these issues unique, innovative and relevant.

This final statement paper was a labor of love, as it completed my final semester in my graduate program at Northern Arizona University. In the report, I focus my gaze on the issues the University of Arizona has faced and will continue to face in the future as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), and how that has impacted Hispanic students' learning outcomes, mental health, and perception of financial hardship during the pandemic.
